Shop introduction

The origin of the name “Tainotai” comes from a bone in the red snapper that has the same shape as that of the fish itself. This is called “Tai no tai” (the red snapper in the red snapper). In the old days, people used to put this bone in their wallets as it was said to help accumulate riches. We wish for everyone to feel happy after eating delicious food, which is why we named our shop like this.

We are committed to finding the best fish for each season, which is brought it fresh every day from different fishing ports, starting from the Akashiura Fishing Port.
Seasoned experts use unique methods of preservation to bring you safe and secure seafood by creating our famous aged fish. Aged fish has more umami and a much more powerful flavor, making it much more enjoyable than other fish. There are not many shops where you can find this in the Kansai region, so we highly recommend it.
Our fresh fish are processed by “ikejime” and "shinkei nuki" nerve removal (slaughter methods by which fish are paralyzed to preserve the texture of the meat) depending on the fish. These are the techniques at work behind the scenes to bring out the best possible taste in the fish.
We also have many other dishes (mainly Japanese style) like tempura, roasted dishes, dried dishes, simmered dishes and local sake, where the emphasis is put on bringing out the best possible flavor of all the ingredients.
